Swimming!

I have had spring fever so bad! I would love to be sitting at a pool in 90 degree weather so even thought last week there was still some snow on the ground we went swimming for Family Home Evening. Hayes loved the pool last summer so I figured he would just want to jump right in. He was more than a little hesitant and would have been happy to stand at the side of the pool with his hippo and watch all the other little kids there.

It took a little coaxing but being the true boy that he is, he loved the water after playing some basketball with his Dad!

I am amazed at people's talents and love when they share them! It motivates me to try and work harder to get better at the talents I've been given, no matter how humble they are! Although I gave up on trying to be an artist long ago, I love looking at my brother, Dixon's art. I hope you'll check out his website if you haven't already. He has completely redone the website and added a lot more of his art plus an awesome section that he updates daily of paintings he does in about a half hour.

Sugar and Spice

This baby is definitely a girl. Yes I know I already have the ultrasound to prove it and the fact that the morning upchuck has thankfully been absent, unlike with Hayes. But further prove is that I crave anything sugary and Chinese food. I always have had a sweet tooth but spicy food has never been my thing. I'm sure if I wasn't such a picky eater I would be eating everything spicy but since I am like my father-in-law Paul and don't like "anything with taste" my spicy food is Chinese food. Unfortunately my Chinese cooking skills are not good, I've tried a few times and they all ended up in the garbage. (If anyone has a good cashew chicken recipe, please share!) So every once in awhile I make a trip to Panda Express.

The big problem is the sugar! I made cookies last Sunday and I hate to admit that I know I ate more than Bracken and Hayes combined (probably times two) and my big downfall is Cadbury's Mini Eggs. I have bought two bags so far and now avoid the Easter section of the grocery store. As much as I would love to tell Bracken that Hayes somehow reached up to the third shelf and ate the whole bag...well that would be me.

Have you ever heard of anyone gaining more than 15 pounds in the last two months? Cause I just might. :)

Running Errands

Hayes and I ran errands today. I will admit that I dread going to a bunch of different places and having to get Hayes in an out of his carseat. Once or twice he's good with but after a few times it turns into a wrestling match. This time I decided I was going to stay positive and not care how long it took us to get everything done.

The first stop was Dillards. I had to try on a few things so I figured I would do that first before he was tired. I guess that was a bad idea because he kept running away. He ran down between some clothes racks but I could still see him. I started to go after him and then I couldn't see him anywhere. So I ran between a few racks and tried to find him. He wasn't anywhere. A sales lady saw me and she started looking. He wasn't anywhere in the whole section. So I was trying not to panic but Hayes is pretty independent so I didn't expect him to start crying or anything. I started to go into another section,(calling out his name even though I knew that probably would just encourage him to run more) hoping that is where he went he wasn't there. Luckily another sales lady came walking to me, holding a smiling Hayes. He had run to the shoe section! Shoes...he has an obsession with shoes! I guess I should have thought of that! I'm just glad he wasn't lost for long!

The next store the stroller came out.

The rest of the day actually went very well. He was happy at the library, the grocery store and we ate lunch at burger king and he just watched all the trucks drive by and waved to people as they left. I think he's finally getting to the age where I won't dread taking him to the store......and pretty soon I'll have a baby girl to get used to taking along too. I don't know how all of you that have more than one kid lives through going to the store with them in tow, but I guess I'm going to find out!
