Aunt Heather

My little sister Heather came up to visit and stayed with us on Sunday night. We had a blast! Hayes woke up on Monday asking "where'd heder go?" but no worries she was just asleep in the next room. Kamri sure took a liking to her and would start bouncing and reaching her arms up to her. I loved staying up until 2am with her playing the card game Speed and listening to all of her life's little details and dramas. We had a little improv photo shoot before she had to leave this afternoon. Fun fun fun, we wish she could have stayed longer! Thanks for driving up and seeing us Heather!

Do you ever have those days..or weeks..that you just need a good kick in the pants? I think that I was having one of those weeks. My kick in the pants came as I was studying the Sunday School lesson on Doctrine and Covenants Section 25 called "This is My Voice unto All" and I was reading D&C 25:12:

"For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads."

I've heard/read this scripture so many times and I usually kind of skip over it or stop listening because it's familiar. Whenever I come across this scripture I always think of a musical and think okay I'm not really one to burst out in song randomly...even in my heart. I was trying hard to relate the scriptures to me and realized that this scripture was exactly what I needed this month.

For me having a song in your heart is showing your gratitude to our Heavenly Father. It is not only saying you are grateful for things but actually thinking about it throughout the day. Not just being grateful for the things you are blessed with but not complaining about the hard things you have to do. I thought of when Hayes is really whiny over some lame reason I get annoyed. Then I thought of our Heavenly Father who not only knows the complaints we voice, but also our whines or pity parties in our head. And not just one child but every. single. person. And he still listens to and loves us.

I had an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Here I am complaining in my head about something as lame as having to change the fourth poopy diaper of the day or sweep the kitchen floor yet again and he is there listening, knowing my struggles as small and insignificant as they are compared to others. I am blessed. I have an amazing husband that not only helps me through my struggles but helps me laugh at them too. I have two kids that make me laugh all day long, even when they are getting in trouble. I have a roof over my head. Wonderful extended family and friends to reach out to and the gospel to keep me focused on what's right. So this week instead of complaining about the few mundane things I get to do every week, I'm going to try and show my gratitude by not only saying it outloud but by having a song in my heart.

She's Crawling!

She's been army crawling for a few weeks but this past week she finally figured out what her knees are for. I love watching her crawl around, she giggles and tried to keep up with Hayes. It's so cute. Poor thing barely gets turned around in time for him to pass her going the other way again. Now she can get to Hayes' toys so much easier. He has been really into his train track lately and so has Kamri. Everytime she crawls over to destroy it Hayes gets upset and starts yelling... "Mam-ree! Train Tracks, mom! Mam-ree, Train Tracks!" Before I could just sit her by me and give her another toy but now she can just crawl right back. Guess he's going to have to learn how to share!

Comfortable?

Peeked in on Kamri during her nap. She was sound asleep.

Man! I wish I was that flexible!

Foster's Baby Blessing

We made the trek down to Cedar for my nephew Foster's baby blessing. (Brooke & Mac's boy) All my siblings were there, it was awesome to see them all. Hayes & Kamri had a ton of fun playing with all their cousins too. Foster might beat Kamri in chubbiness. He is so cute! A lot of my aunts, uncles & cousins were there. It always fun to catch up, especially since we don't see my side of the family as often as we used to. We had a dinner after the blessing that was delicious. I love big family dinners, so many choices of what to eat and I don't have to cook! We were in such a hurry to get to the gathering I forgot the camera so I didn't even get a picture of Foster and he was the reason we went down! I did get a cute picture of my parents with Kamri & Rachel. Rachel is three months younger than Kamri and is Parker & Christine's little girl. They are all getting big so fast!

and Bracken caught this picture of Hayes acting like a grumpy teenager. Not wanting his picture taken after he just woke up. (Just like his mom...)
