I have a lot to be grateful for...

I don't have a quote for Sunday but I have been thinking about how I've been letting the mundane tasks of life bog me down. This week I want to focus less on being frustrated about not "getting things done" and more on enjoying the relationships I have, especially with the important people above.

Cinderella

Kamri and I stayed up past our bedtime to go watch a Cinderella play in Henderson.

I know she doesn't look excited but she just didn't want to be bothered by picture taking...

I bought the tickets Friday night and told Kamri she had to take a nap Saturday to be able to go since it didn't start until 8p.m.  She was so excited she asked if she could take her nap right then. When Saturday afternoon came, she went down pretty easily. I had her take the nap at 4 but should have had her take it eariler. When I woke her up at 6:30 to eat and get ready she was groggy and ornery. She changed her attitude once it was time to go though. Our friend's Angela & Baylee joined us, it was fun to have them along!

 The play was at the outdoor amphitheater in Henderson. It was a cold night and it started to rain. The amphitheater has a tent roof unfortunately there is a big circle hole in the middle which we were sitting under and it started to rain! Luckily the place was pretty empty so we moved to one of the side seats before it poured on us.  Two minutes into the play she asked when they were going to start singing and dancing. She was so excited to be at a play!  Besides a microphone mishap which made it so we couldn't hear the whole act with the fairy godmother, it was an enjoyable show.

Kamri & I were in need of some one-on-one time and this was right up Kamri's alley! I think this will be a fun new tradition for Kamri & I to go to plays or concerts together, time will tell if she'll have other siblings that will want to join us!

Wrapped up before the show. She ended up on my lap the rest of the time to keep us both warm!! 

Ann Romney: We've got your back.

After the democratic assault on Ann Romney that she did not understand issues facing women because she "never worked a day in her life."  President Obama responded by saying that he and Michelle "didn't have the luxury" of her being a stay-at-home mom (the average starting salary of a Harvard Law Grad is around $150,000 a year). Being a stay-at-home mom is not a luxury -- it's a sacrifice. A luxury is hiring a nanny to wipe your child's butt so you don't have to. A sacrifice is repeatedly answering the question "Why?" instead of having an adult conversation. A luxury is getting a promotion at work. A sacrifice is doing one more load of laundry amid crying from a vomiting child without accolades.

Those in the media acknowledge that being a stay-at-home mom is hard work but they never acknowledge the worth of the mother.   In the absence of such worldly acknowledgments of a mother's worth, a mother must be well acquainted with her innate and divine individual worth and the eternal value of her sacrifice to those she serves. While it is often difficult for a mother to remember such worth during the mundane daily tasks she performs, it will become more evident to her as she focuses on the long-term value of successfully raising her children.

Minutes & Plans

Hayes was not bad tonight but I was impatient and he was driving me crazy!

On the way to go eat at Panda Express he wanted to know how long it would take to get there. I said a few minutes but he wanted an exact number so I told him three. He knows he has to count to 60 for each minute so he counted to 60 three times and we weren't quite there, that bugged him.

I told him we were going to go to two stores but we ended up going to three. He wasn't mentally prepared for three stores so he wasn't happy about that. The second store he asked how long I'd be and started counting. The last store was the grocery store and he knew we were going to get ice cream. As we pulled up he was telling me the plan out loud. We are going in, getting ice cream and going home. I informed him we getting a few more things than just ice cream. He wanted to know the exact amount. I started listing what we were getting then thought to myself, why am I doing this?!

Then when we got home he wanted to know exactly how many minutes it would take me to feed Lyla a bottle.

That kid and his plans. Bracken got home after they were all in bed and I was telling him how impatient I was with Hayes and his rules and plans. Bracken told me I had full disclosure to this kind of thing when I married him, and Hayes is just brushing up on his deposition skills. Most mom's just get a lot of WHYS?? I get deposed?! Starting this early I guess he'll make a good lawyer...

Priorities

Watch a movie with Bracken or blog? A girl has gotta have her priorities straight so short post tonight.

Big news today was Santorum dropped out of the Republican presidential primary. Good news for Romney.

Life was pretty uneventful in our household. Hayes & Kamri had two friends over during lunch. It felt like an middle school math story problem. You know the ones that have a million different facts that relate and start to sound the same. Hayes wanted to sit by Lauren, Kamri wanted to sit by a girl, Michael wanted to sit by Hayes, and Lauren only wanted to sit by someone younger than her by at least 13 months... no, luckily Lauren didn't have an opinion or it would have gotten interesting.

Bracken took Hayes on a father/son outing to the park. They rode bikes and then played catch--called it good when Hayes caught nine in a row.  Then I played Mario for a bit with Hayes on the original Nintendo.  I set it up for the kids when they had friends over but I might have to put it away tomorrow because I like playing it too much. Most video games don't appeal to me but I have a weakness for old school Mario.

Hayes goes to the dentist to get two fillings tomorrow. He's excited. That kid is crazy. He loves the dentist and he's had ten fillings.

Kamri took a nap today so wasn't tired at bedtime.  She has been laying in bed for the past hour, looking at books, telling stories to herself out loud.  I love listening to her little voice as she makes up stories.

Don'tcha wish your baby could clean like mine.

Now to wish this stays a habit when she is older...
