WHAT?
I'll explain. In high school I was on the swim team and a few weeks before state we had what was called "hell week" (it's okay if you put it in quotation marks right? ;)) We would have to do super hard swimming workouts while wearing clothes...and shoes. We'd have to run up and down the stairs of the 3 story slide and pretty much anything our coach could think of that would get us as close to throwing up from exhaustion as possible. I remember going home and trying to decide if I'd rather fall into bed or devour every food item in sight. It was hard stuff. Well, I have decided that I am giving myself a "Mom's H-E-double hockey stick week"
This picture depicts the focus of the week.
Toilet train Hayes and get Kamri to take a bottle or a sippy cup.
I know it's a little crazy to try and get both done in the same week but I figure if you are going to have two hard weeks...why not just have one difficult week, right? I guess it might sound a tad bit pessimistic but I figure if we get through this week and successfully wean Kamri and get Hayes potty trained....even more reason to celebrate if it really wasn't that bad
Any suggestions?

The first day of potty training, find somewhere for Kamri to go for about 4 hours.
Then pump fluids and salty treats (anything Hayes likes) that will make him want to drink.
Take Hayes to the toilet every 15 -20 minutes.
Make a big deal of ANY success. Even if it's just sitting on the toilet willingly.
Don't get discouraged. I HATE potty training. But I like the results. Good luck.
I have no advice for the bottle/sippy.
Good luck! Good luck! Good luck!
You are brave! Good luck. A little treat for incentive in a jar next to the potty worked for Ellie (and lots of reminders and trips to the bathroom despite her saying she didn't need to go). Your train turned out so cute.
Oh good luck! That is the hardest thing I think I ever had to deal with as a Mom...even natural labor with Nixon. :) Keep at it and eventually Hayes will get it. And...if you try and try and he just doesn't get it, it's okay to stop and try a different time. We had M&M's and every time Cohen sat on the potty for a certain amoutn of time, he would get an M&M. Then when he peed in the potty, he would only get an M&M when he peed. Candy worked great! We are trying to switch NIxon over to a big-boy bed...crazy week here too. Call if you need some sanity!!
we did the soft nipple nuby sippys, and they are soft, but still different, so we didn't have any trouble switching. they are like 1.50 at walmart. you can try! as for the potty training, we are still working on that one.
You crack me up Skye! I'm enjoying all your posts!
My potty training advice...may not be what you want to hear. But it's worked for me for 2 kids so far.
I make sure I let them know it's an option to go potty and encourage them to try once in a while. But I let them initiate the actual potty training. Believe it or not...one day they'll be interested. You have to not care what other people think...which is hard with your first when you're still "proving" yourself as a mom! Personally, I don't think it's worth the pain or the issues of pushing them before they're ready. I've watch too many make it into a battle! But you have to decide how much you care I guess.
Maya turns 3 tomorrow and 2 weeks ago decided she was ready...straight into panties and hardly an accident. Super-easy...she feels good...I feel good! Did I want her trained 6 months ago...you betcha! But I'm sure I would have spent the last 6 months cleaning up accidents if I'd pushed her.
Anyways...whatever you decide. Hope you don't have a week from H*#@!
Wow! Aren't you the ambitious one!
Hmmmmm...well, I kinda agree with the comment above, from JaNae. If you push too hard, sometimes you just end up with more accidents and frustration.
I usually start out pretty slow. Get them in pull-ups eventually and then offer treats and bribes. All my boys have liked their Potty Charts. I let them pick out some stickers and then they get to put on on a piece of paper on the fridge every time they go.
The last time I went through this fun time, :) I bought a bunch of little prizes at the dollar store and wrapped them in tissue paper. Every time the little one went he got to pick a prize.
As for the weaning (you mean from nursing, right?), hmmmm....my best suggestion is to go away by yourself and let Bracken take care of it! Zoe is still nursing (yes, I know....I let my babies nurse a LOOOOONG time) and I'm planning to attend a writing conference in March. I'll start to wean her, but then I'll let Ryan deal with it. It will be easier without me here to remind her of what she wants. I'm sure Bracken will LOVE this suggestion.
Well, GOOD LUCK! I look forward to hearing about your progress. :)
OH man, I will be checking back to see how everything goes. I need to move Thomas to a big bed and work on the potty training thing, but I think I might wait until summmer. We'll see. Good luck and keep us posted with good tricks.
oh, you brave woman! i DO NOT like potty training!! i think that what works for everyone is soooo very different, and i can't say that i've had the same success with either so far, both were so different. i think like others have said, they need to be ready. i tired with livi for sooo long, and no luck until she was 3 1/2. with carver i didn't even bring it up, he was the one who wanted to, and it was quick and easy. good luck, good luck! i hope it isn't to "he..ish" of a week for you. you can do it!
