Happy Birthday EJ!

It seems like May is the birthday month for my family! Today is my little brother EJ's birthday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EJ!
My little sister, Heather (also in the pic) had her birthday on May 3rd so
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEATHER!
And I know everyone else who had a birthday in may is so disappointed I didn't find an unflattering picture of them from the past and posted about them. You can send me one and it'll be my pleasure to spotlight you next year :)
My little brother EJ turned 17 today. It still seems crazy that he's getting that old. I love thinking about the time I spent with him during high school though. He was that quirky annoying little brother yet my friends and I could not stop laughing when we were with him.
So thanks EJ for teaching me:
  • That rubber band wars are fun (and even safe with googles made out of clear dannon yogurt lids).
  • That rubber bands can be used as an effective way to kill flys mid-air.
  • That if you are scared of your neighbors all you need to do is lock the front door, run to the bathroom, lock the bathroom door and hide in the tub.
  • That grunting can actually be a very effective form of communicating.
  • Pogo stick and unicycles are supposedly the best form of transportation if you ever figure out how to use them

Now to Heather, she's 19 now! We shared a room for about 11 years. I have some great memories of growing up with her.

  • When we were little we'd stuff pillows up our nightgowns and sumo wrestle. One time she fell off the bed and a mattress spring that was poking out scratched all the way down her leg and I think she still has a scar. I'm sure I always won...right heather?
  • She was also so nice to me, and I was a bratty older sister. I swear almost every night I'd convince her to scratch my back and then I'd scratch hers. She make me promise I wouldn't fall asleep while she was scratching mine. I'd promise and then I'd fall asleep or fake fall asleep every time. Poor girl.
  • She would snore a different way every night. I remember one time I heard a weird noise outside the window. I went to get my dad because I was so scared. Turns out it was just Heather, snoring away.
  • Her laugh is contagious. I still love to hear it, even if it is usually only over the phone.
  • She put up so well with me. Sometimes I'd push her buttons just to get her mad because she'd start chasing me and her eyes would light up. You could tell she was mad because her eyes would get so angry but it made me laugh looking at her eyes. So I'd be trying to run away but laughing so hard I'd collapse on the stairs. Once she caught me she didn't have anything to do with me so it ended there....with me having a good laugh.
  • I'd also give her makeovers. I'd put on make up and do her hair. We had fun doing that, but occasionally I wouldn't let her look in the mirror until I was done and I'd do her make up crazy. Make her look like she had a black eye or a mime. Man I was kind of a mean older sister at times!
  • Now I love having her call me and update me on her single social life :)

I love you both! You're the best little brother and sister!

Now I know why you & Bracken are perfect for eachother...you were both great teasers growing up. I can see how you put up with him now. :)

you make me wish I had little siblings to have fun with! (Kent was too close to my same age to really count).
