Challenge #5 What in Nature Inspires You?

Denise, my mother-in-law, has challenges on her blog. You can check out the challenges on her blog, http://seasonalsouveniers.blogspot.com/

Her challenge question was What in Nature Inspires You?

My Answer: Water

For those who know me well, this probably isn't a surprise. In high school I spent at least 2 hours a day swimming and during the summer I practically lived at the pool. I love water. An ice cold drink or a jump in a chilly lake on a hot day. A hot steamy shower on a cold day. It just makes you feel good!

I love the fact that water can be so serene and calm. Like an untouched mountain pond. Or it can be strong and raging like a flash flood through a canyon, destroying anything in it's path. It also reminds me to persevere. A small trickle of water can carve through rock if given enough time.

Another reason why water inspires me is because I feel comfortable in the water. I love swimming as a workout because of the feeling of gliding through the water. The struggle of moving faster through the water and the feeling afterwards of your tired muscles. (Also the fact that you can't feel all your sweat but you get a good workout!)

Water inspires me because it can be so serene, but if it needs to, it has the strength to change mountains.

We're Still Alive

I can't believe it's been over a month since I last posted! Time has been going by too quick. We have been so busy. I'll have to post more later. Hayes is trying to take over the computer right now and it's hard to type. He loves being a big brother, just hopefully Kamri doesn't outweigh him soon, cause I swear she out eats him!

Kamri Ruth

Kamri Ruth
May 14, 2008
8 lbs 10 oz
20 inches
12:36am
She finally made it here! I went into labor tuesday night (the 13th) and wasn't sure if I was in labor or not. Bracken was trying to convince me we needed to go to the hospital but I was thinking it would die down. My water broke after only 20 minutes of contractions and that convinced me we needed to go! We got to the hospital around 10:40 and I was at an 8. When the doctor got there I was a 9 but she was breech. So off to have another C-Section. I was dissapointed about that, but I guess at least I wasn't in labor for that long! We have a happy, healthy little girl and I couldn't ask for anything more!
She'll be a week old tomorrow, it goes by so fast! She so far she has been a great baby. I do wish she knew that night was for sleep and daytime was for being awake but we'll get that switched eventually. Last night she was wide awake from 11pm to 2 am but when she finally did fall asleep at 2 she slept for 5 1/2 hours! I can't complain about that! I think I'd rather have a longer block of sleeping time, even if it isn't until 2.
My parents came and picked Hayes up on Saturday and took him down to Cedar. He'll be there until Friday. I miss him so much but it has been so nice to be able to recover and not worry about me not being able to do stuff for him. I am sure he is having so much fun being spoiled down there too!
Thanks so much to Kade & Katie for meeting us at the hospital to take Hayes for the night, Paul & Denise for watching Hayes while we were in the hospital and my parents for taking him this week. The ladies in my ward have been so awesome and have spoiled us with a week of meals. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family and friends to support me. Most importantly I feel so blessed to have Hayes, Kamri and my awesome husband Bracken who has done everything for me this week! I love you all!
If any of you are close by feel free to drop in and see our new baby girl.

There is a slideshow at the bottom of the blog of more pictures. Some of them are kind of fuzzy. I thought our cameras flash was going crazy or something. I realized a little too late that they are blurry because Hayes was playing with the camera at the hospital and got his fingerprints all over the lens.

Guilty

It started out innocently.
Hayes went down for a nap so I got online to check to see if my last grade had posted. Which it finally had. Then I decided to check my e-mail.
It all goes downhill from there. Blogging is just dangerous.
I have toys everywhere that need to be picked up, a online class I need to get the first assignments done before I have this baby, and a baby blanket to bind. (I could add and bathrooms to clean but we'll just avoid that.) Oh yes and dinner to make. But instead I spend an hour looking at people's blogs and finding new ones to spend even more time looking at next time I get on. I love looking at everyone's pictures and hearing what they are up to! I'd like to make an excuse that it was my "social event" of the day but I was outside talking to my neighbors for half the day. Does anyone else have this problem? Getting online to do one quick thing and spending an hour doing something completely different. I guess at least I'll admit it, that's the first step to recovery right?

Last Night

Last night we spent the evening outside. Bracken mowed the lawn and Hayes dug in the dirt. I on the other hand, enjoyed sitting on the porch watching them, enjoying the weather, and using my huge belly as an excuse to do absolutly nothing. :)

(I'll spare you the picture of that though.)

Random Pictures from this Month

This was taken the beginning of April on one of the random warm days in between the snow. He loves being outside and as you can tell he doesn't mind the taste of dirt either! Last weekend we went down to Provo for my cousin, Aimee's wedding shower. We got to see a lot of family which was awesome and Hayes got to see all his cousins! He think he's such a hot shot when he's with Xander.

Hayes loves "helping" me cook. We made Chicken Squares for dinner and we was brushing the butter on top before we put them in the oven. I told him to take out his Binky and smile, this is the picture I got. This was one of the mishaps during finals week where I probably wasn't as good as a mother as I should have been. I was studying in the kitchen and I could hear him, I thought he was in his room playing with his toys. It was too quiet for awhile...my mom has taught me when boys are quiet it's usually trouble...so I went down the hall and he was in my room putting on my makeup! Mascara and gold eye shadow everywhere!! I couldn't get a very good picture since he was so mad that I took it away but you can get the gist. Black & Gold eyes!
