Moon Trip

Bracken and Hayes were talking one night about the moon. Hayes really wanted to go to the moon, so Bracken told him the next day they would learn about the moon and take the trip. Boy was Hayes excited! The next day after Bracken was done with school, he got online with Hayes and learned about the moon.

First you need the necessary gear, so of course they fashioned an astronaut suit.Then you must have a rocket ship, and of course the seats are a bit uncomfortable. (Sorry about the blurry photo...the rocket must have been going really fast)
They learned there is no gravity on the moon so you can jump REALLY high...and I'm not sure how Bracken was safe without a moon suit but Hayes didn't seem to mind that he was the only one so fashionable. and somehow Kamri showed up too...I guess we're a little ahead of NASA in our technology.

They collected moon dust to study when they got back to earth. But then Hayes decided the moon was dirty so the dust needed to go in the garbage can. (again, sorry NASA)

All in all it was a successful trip! I'll keep you tuned in for Bracken and Hayes' next adventure. I love that Hayes has such an imagination and Bracken is so good at coming up with stuff to do!

Yard Work

To say Bracken has been studying a lot is an understatement. But two Saturday's ago he took the morning off and did some yard work with the kids while I went to a cub scout training. When I got home I just had to take pictures. They had taken out tons of weeds from the flowerbeds...and with no where to put them they were bagging them up in garbage bags. Kamri would run to the kitchen and get garbage bags while Bracken and Hayes filled them up. Kamri was loving it since her favorite (and one of the most clear words she says) is "TRASH!"

We're glad Bracken is studying hard but it's sure fun whenever he can take a break, even if it is to do yard work!

Halloween Projects

Hayes now calls any craft we do "Our Projects!"

I'm the Cub Scout Den Leader in my ward. For Halloween I had the boys make paper mache pumpkins. It was a little crazy trying to keep Hayes & Kamri from getting paint everywhere while five 9 year olds paper mached and painted so we had a little painting session of our own after they left.

As Hayes says, we love having "our cub scouts" over every week!

While Kamri was asleep I let Hayes pick out something online for us to make together. He found this fun little spider, with a string web that you can unroll and roll over and over again. Of course we couldn't leave Kamri out and had to add a little bit of girlyness with a bow. Which has since been ripped off by Hayes. Now that we know she'll be surrounded by boys I guess she'll have to get used to that. We found the pattern for the spiders at We Wilsons. from a link through thelongthread.

Our last Halloween project we made a little Halloween book. We were stuck inside all weekend because Hayes & Kamri were sick. Bracken had to work on a paper ALL day Saturday (we felt worse for him) and by Sunday I was dying to try and find something to entertain them both. Hayes loved deciding what to put in and Kamri loved paint the Jack-o-lanterns. Bracken joked we spent more time making it then they'll spend time looking at it. Which so far is true but at least they had fun making it and we had a peaceful Sunday evening so I'd call it a success.

Market Skirt

I made my first attempt of sewing an actual article of clothing. I found the tutorial to make a "market skirt" at Made. I had to do a few unpicking sessions and although the tutorial said it only took an hour or two to make it took me like five. I'm slow and still feel like I'm a beginner. It was pretty easy though and soo fun to have her wear it! The nice Las Vegas weather at the end of September must have had me confused that it was spring when I picked out the fabric. Looks like something more for an Easter dress but it was fun to make so I'll definitely be making another one of these for her in the spring.

Potty Time Take II

Hayes has been running around in his unders and cape the past few days.

I posted in February about potty training Hayes and now I laugh that I wrote at the end of the post "only one in diapers again!" because that didn't quite work out.

This last weekend I decided that Monday was the day. Hayes WILL be potty trained. I told Bracken that I was determined and I was going to be MORE stubborn than Hayes about it. Then of course he laughed as we were going to bed I asked "Will you remind me when I wake up that I'm potty training Hayes?" I'm a little slow to start up in the morning and I figured we'd have to have Hayes try to go first thing so he'd start off successful.

After hearing everyone else's stories I decided that he'd get a cold shower if he had an accident and chocolate chips every time he was successful.


Monday Hayes had two accidents, two cold showers and lots of chocolate chips. He concluded "I don't want any more ax-a-dents or I get a cold, cold, very cold, shower!!" I felt so mean while I was giving him those showers but it was so worth it!

Tuesday He had no accidents, no cold showers and lots chocolate chips. We went to the park with some friends and Hayes was so excited to tell his friend who is potty trained that now he goes "poop in the potty!"

Today he has had one accident but it was at the park and I was on my cell phone so I figured he didn't deserve a cold shower for it. Poor kid, now he always tells me he's not going to have an accident or he'll have a "cold, cold, very cold, shower!!"


Hopefully I'm not premature again in my post but I think we're on our way to getting him in underwear!! Now that we're expecting our third, I'm not going to give up as easily....three in diapers sounds like torture to me!

BOY!

We had our ultrasound today and so far everything looks good and he is definitely a boy. I've been feeling good, I haven't really had morning sickness at all so that has been a blessing, especially with Bracken having to leave early in the morning for school. Hayes told me he wanted a little brother but that we were having a girl. I guess he's happy that he was wrong since he got what he wanted. Although Kamri can't really voice an opinion, I'm sure she'll just be happy to have a baby in the house because she is obsessed with babies right now. Bracken and I are glad the baby is healthy and we weren't leaning on wanting one way or another. We're excited for February to come, although I'm glad I still have a few more months to act like I'm getting my life under control before the baby comes!
