Goal for Today

Get a 2 year old to sit still so I can clean out his head wound.
It's not a huge cut but I do need to clean it out and get the hair out of it.
So far..I have attempted to get him to hold still watching "Cars." then I tried crackers and cheese. Then candy. All three together didn't work either.

I mean, I love people to poke at my bleeding wounds. Don't you?

Any suggestions? Three failed attempts and now he looks like he cut his own hair in the back, from me trying to get the hair out of his cut. I need all the help I can get. I think I might just wait for Bracken to get home from work to hold him down.
Poor kid. Maybe he'll have to go as a mummy for Trick or Treating.

This is our first cut really....I'm in trouble when things involve stitches or broken bones.

(He fell out of our bed and hit the nightstand. Sad that my first thought was, maybe that will teach him to come climb in our bed at night. Okay so my first thought was...oh no! is he okay?? but it was my second thought. Is that mean?)

I love sleep!

My whole family is asleep. Kamri and Hayes went down easy and Bracken was out by 9:30 because he is sick. Instead of getting sleep while I can...I'm blogging. Naughty Skye.

I never understood why people took so many pictures of their kids sleeping but now I understand why. Something about the peaceful calmness and the realization that no matter what, you love them with all your heart and more. Here are a few (okay a lot) of my favorites.

First time Hayes has fallen asleep in someone's arms since he was like one.

We were on a family vacation with my side of the family. We went to a bee's game and by the time we got back to the condo Hayes was so tired. We had family prayer and after the prayer we couldn't find Hayes. Everyone started looking for him, we found him in bed...holding his pajama pants. If only he always put himself to bed!

Kamri has, for the most part been a great sleeper (hopefully she keeps it up!)

I debated on putting this picture on here since I'm no sleeping beauty but...this shows how tired we were after Kamri was born. Or how Hayes can sleep no matter how uncomfortable he his.

Unlike her mother, she is a sleeping beauty.

Rocked himself to sleep. The picture below is what I found after I shut the door to try and get hayes to fall asleep. First thought...dang a big mess to clean up. Second thought...where is Hayes?
Found him by the side of the chair...yes he had taken off his diaper and shorts, I guess inbetween destroying the room. Luckily he hadn't peed or pooped!
We tried to have a rule that if he climbed up...he had to be able to climb back down. Hoping that sometime it would catch on that he should think about where he climbs before he does it. That hasn't happened but Bracken did have a victory this time. He climbed up to get his binkie out of the cupboard and Bracken told him he had to climb down by himself. He was so tired he ended up falling asleep there. First time Bracken didn't end up giving in to his whining (or saving him from hurting himself) and getting him down.

Well now, I'm off to sleep!

Just a little unimportant rant.

I love my children. I love my child Hayes. But why is it so difficult to go grocery shopping with him? In all honesty...the memories make me laugh..once it's all over and he is asleep in bed that night. While it's happening, that's another story.

So today I decided to go to the grocery store to just get cereal because it was on sale. I don't usually go to the store for one thing, but it was a good deal. He held my hand while we walked in, unlike two times ago when he started running and I had to make quick calculations on if it was more likely for a 2 year old to get hit by a car or a baby in a car seat in a shopping cart. Sorry Kamri but I think people can see shopping carts better.

So we got inside the store and there was a little shopping cart there for him to take, no melt down there.

All I had to do was get the cereal and we are good...right?

I had Hayes help me put the boxes in the cart, this way he is busy helping not running away.

I was there a short time, so I didn't run into any neighbors to stop and talk to. Since I didn't stop to talk. Hayes did not have the chance to run out the store doors to "show" my neighbor where the carts go.

When we got in line I successfully maneuvered Hayes so he did not get distracted by the candy bars. I had him putting the cereal on the conveyor belt thingy.

Then while the cashier was scanning in the cereal I was keeping my watch out. I was making sure Hayes was by my side unlike the one time that he disappeared when I reached to the bottom of the cart to get the laundry detergent. I thought he had gone for the parking lot, so I was practically in tears by the time an employee found him in the back of a very big store looking at a package of cookies.

So..no melt down, no run to the store doors, no getting lost...heck not even trying to add things to the cart (which I don't consider a hard part of shopping with him any more)

I really thought that we had had a perfect shopping experience. But I forget.

While i was running my credit card, Hayes successfully climbed into the mini shopping cart to be at the perfect height to steal one of those lame 50 cent minuscule pieces of chocolate that are by the credit card machine. He had it, unwrapped, stuffed in his mouth before the machine said approved. Fast little guy.

You would think I'd learn. I think that is like the fourth time I've had to pay for those dang candies. Do grocery store managers get together and think..muwhahaha we are going to put all the candy and good stuff low for children to get into..and if that doesn't work put candy in the perfect spot to swipe while the mom is off guard.

Maybe a little dramatic but it was annoying to have to dig in my purse for some cash after I had already paid for anything.

Oh yes after I paid for that and we started to walk away, Hayes snatched up a package of M&M's that were on a stand at the END of the checkout. Seriously...at the end? I mean you've already paid for everything, they are asking to be shoplifted from.

I know..50 cents isn't a big deal. But I just have to rant a little so that someday...someday when I successfully make a perfect shopping trip..I can blog about it.

A few pictures from last week.

Before General Conference started I was trying to explain to Hayes what it was. "It's like church but we get to sit at home and watch TV." Okay probably not the best explanation of conference, but he ran and got his suitcoat and was ready to sit and watch.

Here is me being a bad example. It's hard not to fall asleep with Kamri cuddling up to you!

Part of conference Hayes was going crazy climbing all over Bracken and when Hayes decided to be quiet Kamri was fussy but DVR helped us out a lot. We had to rewind some of the talks a few times to hear what they were saying.

Monday morning we got to have Kolby, Hayes' little buddy, over. They have so much fun playing together. They always copy eachother. They were watching a show and Kolby had a jacket on so Hayes had to go get his jacket and put it over his pjs.


















This last week I had a test in my managerial economics class. I procrastinate too much so I had all my reading and quizzes to take that week before the test on Thursday. I had to start being creative of ways to entertain Hayes. The TV worked great but I did not want him sitting in front of it all day. I got a bunch of random things from the kitchen and gave him some water. He had so much fun pouring it from one thing to another. He was entertained for about a half hour which is pretty long for him!

Tuesday we had my niece Macee over for the day while Kristin had a training meeting. Her and Hayes play so well together so it's fun to have her over. It was so funny watching them eat lunch together. They would sit down and take a bite and then one of them would stand up. THe other would follow, they'd walk around and sit back down, then take a bite again. Macee is so cute!

That night I went to USU's water polo club. I had never been but we swam laps, practiced some shots and scrimmaged. It was a lot of fun. This isn't a picture from it, but I thought this picture was pretty cool. I don't miss having to workout everyday but playing every once in awhile is a blast!

Wednesday Hayes went over to Kolby's house so I could study a little more before my test on Thursday. Then we went to the park and had a McDonald's picnic. He played at the park while I studied. Kamri was perfect and slept most of the time we were there.

Nothing super exciting about the week but it was fun. I am glad my test is over though, Only 2 more left in that class...wahoo!

Projects

So I did these over the summer. Something I could work on at home that didn't involve the kids. The table was from Bracken's family. They used it when he was growing up. The top was pretty worn out, I was going to sand it down and revarnish it but I ended up painting it instead. The chairs I painted black and left one of them in the sun and the paint bubbled up. So I need to fix that but for now we are using chairs I redid last year, they are from my grandparents. They used to be the beautiful..ahem..orange vinyl. Or something like vinyl I'm really not sure.

The nightstands my visiting teacher and friend, Karly, helped me build. I couldn't have done it without her. I just don't add in my head too well (and I was going to be an accounting major...). Luckily she was there to help me so they weren't lopsided and so I didn't kill myself with the power tools.

Nothing fancy but I liked how they turned out. Now I just need some pottery or books or something to put in the middle. For now I just hope they withstand Hayes climbing all over them.

C-Town

We spent the weekend in Cedar before we went to Lake Powell. We stopped and saw Parker, Christine, Kaylee and the newest addtion Rachel in Provo on the way down so we saw my whole family on the trip! We went to dinner at Rusty's the night we got there...Went to the SUU homecoming parade on Saturday and played games with all my siblings. I love Cedar City. No matter where I live, Cedar will always feel like home to me. Hayes loved running around with Xander and Audrey. I have a few pictures from when we went down to Cedar in August too. Dixon and my dad were playing basketball and were trying to shoot while riding on a skateboard. It was hilarious to watch. I love that my dad and brothers just do random stuff like that. The skateboard provided hours of entertainment for Hayes while we were there. He loved running up the cement "hill" and riding down my parents driveway on the skateboard. At first I went with him but then he got brave enough he just wanted to do it on his own. It's hard to see but my dad took Hayes and Xander for a ride on the skateboard too (it is the picture to the right of Kamri and Me). Hopefully we'll make it back down there again soon!

Lake Powell

We went to Lake Powell with Bracken's family. We left Hayes with my parents and took Kamri. She's a pretty smart girl already realizing that she got to go to lake powell since she refused to take a bottle. Lake Powell was so nice, the weather was perfect. The water was a little cold at times but then again I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to cold water.

Our camera "fell" in the water (inside of Bracken's pocket) so I didn't get many pictures of Lake Powell but thankfully after drying out for a few days our camera still works!

So the only pictures I got were of Bracken fixing the houseboat toilet leak. Yuck.

I wake surfed also but that was after the camera took a dip. We also tried the air chair. It was hilarious watching Bracken going up and down like crazy and crashing. I wish I had video of that. I tried it and got up once and fell on my side. It hurt like crazy! Maybe I'll try it again next year if we have it again.

Besides the great weather, playing the water and having no worries for a whole week, I also love staying up late at lake powell and talking to everyone. For some reason it seems like we all get a little loopy at night and everything is funny.
