Free Family Fun Part I

I'm a little slow in posting this, since we did this the last weekend in February (and I still haven't blogged about Christmas…) but I wanted to keep track of the places we go to in Las Vegas for free. This particular weekend Bracken had to do schoolwork Saturday afternoon but we had the morning. We hadn't planned anything when we woke up so we decided to go to the Petsmart close by. I know this isn't really particular to Las Vegas since there are Petsmarts all over but it was free. They a bunch of dogs outside in pens every Saturday morning awaiting adoption so we went and checked them out. Then went inside and saw the birds, mice, gerbils, rats, lizards, snakes, frogs, fish, rabbits and cats. The kids loved it, almost as good as a zoo. Hayes did want a dog but he made a deal with Bracken that he could get one when he grows up and moves out. What a deal, huh? Hayes told us he's going to have a big black, white and brown dog.

The trip ended up not being free because we did bring home a pet. We brought home a Beta Fish. (I know you are all thinking we are cool parents….some kids get a dog…and they get A fish.) Hayes named him Sugar. The first few days he would call him "Si-gar" and sounded like Cigar, it made me giggle inside every time. Sugar has been a good pet so far. He even made it through spring break while we were gone, without a sitter or feeding so we'll keep him.

Hayes still remembers every day to feed him and Kamri randomly points up to the counter throughout the day excitingly saying FISH! So our first pet has been a good one. I'm sure it won't be the last…but sorry Hayes, we probably won't be getting that big black, white & brown dog.

Wow so many fun posts! I am so glad you were able to sell your home. I really need to call you and ask you some questions since justin and I are still renting and have been married for 8 years, something is wrong there right? It would be fun to get our own place :) I absolutely love the painting pictures, you are an awesome mom! Fish are great pets! I still love watching our tank. I hope you are doing well! Thanks for the fun post. Hope to see you soon!

Fish are definitely the best way to go. We tried dogs and we failed.
