The kids and I drove down to Phoenix to visit Parker & Christine (my brother & sister-in-law) and their girls, Kaylee & Rachel, while Bracken was at Scout camp two weeks ago. We drove down Wednesday and got home Saturday evening.
The drive down was LONG...it took us 7 1/2 hours to get there because of an 1 1/2 delay at Hoover Dam. The drive home we went a different way to bypass Hoover Dam, which was suppose to be about a half hour longer but we ended up getting home 2 hours faster...much better! The kids were great about driving and the only time they threw a fit was when we stopped to eat and Hayes wanted chicken nuggets but there was so mcdonalds where we stopped. So i had him go to the bathroom and stuck them back in the car, he fell asleep...problem solved.
We had fun pool hopping..from their community neighborhood pool next door, to a city pool, to a rec center. They all had different things to offer, were cheap, fun and great way to stay cool. The rec center had a whirlpool that Hayes LOVED. and the city pool he went down the slide at least 50 times. We always ended up at the pool next door at 8 p.m. Perfect temperature, although it did seem a little odd swimming in the dark! Thursday morning we went to a free movie (usually $1 but Parker found tickets free on Craiglist) and took the kids to watch Alvin & the chipmunks the squeakal. A little cheesy but the kids loved it. Hayes and Kamri got a lot more comfortable swimming in the water and didn't have to hold on to me the whole time. I see a lot more swimming in the future this summer! After every nap or in the morning Kamri would beg to go swimming again.
Christine & Rachel. Seriously Christine has to be one of the most photogenic people I know, she always looks great!
They took us out to breakfast at IHOP for my birthday the day we left, I even got ice cream at breakfast...now that is a good birthday present!
Hayes was so tired one night after giving him a bath he fell asleep at the top of the stairs while I was getting Kamri out of the tub.
Rachel, Kamri & Kaylee all clean and ready to get dressed for bed.
Parker and Tank. Kamri was always asking to pet Tank and then screaming because she was scared of him. She loves dogs from a distance but always gets nervous up close.
Thanks for letting us come Parker & Christine, we had so much FUN!!
