Leprechauns

Yesterday Hayes and Kamri made Leprechaun traps. It's almost July yet they felt it the appropriate thing to make. Jingle Bells is requested every other night as one of the bedtime songs and tonight we had heart shaped watermelon and red napkins and February is long past. We're great at celebrating holidays just not on the actual holiday. Maybe we should set fireworks off at Christmas....but I digress. Back to Leprechaun traps.
I saw the traps sitting on the dresser in the hallway as I was going to bed last night. I cut out little felt shamrocks and put them in the traps to see how Hayes & Kamri would respond.  Today after church I told them to check their traps. They went crazy.  They were searching all over for mischievous things the leprechauns did in our house. Leprechauns are mischief, Hayes taught us and since he learned it at kindergarten Kamri took it as an honest authority.  Look mom, a piece of garbage BY the garbage can, the leprechaun must have done that!  Look a ball in the cubby hole my toy guns go in, it MUST have been the leprechauns. Followed by twenty plus more things that were out of place in our house, that you guessed it--  must have been a leprechaun's doing. (Thank you kids for pointing out everything that is misplaced in our house, I've got a lot of work to do!)  They were getting a little out of control running around finding anything that could be a leprechauns doing. Bracken reined them in by telling them they should clean everything up tonight and see if the leprechaun comes again.  If everything is in it's place, we'll be able to tell. (Ten Points to Bracken for getting them to clean without them even realizing it!) They helped clean up before dinner and had a hard time falling asleep thinking of what the leprechaun would do in the night.

.  Now on to being the mischievous leprechaun.  I question my sanity in doing this since it's June....and it will set them on an hour long quest for anything out of place in the house.  But they will love it and I will love watching their reactions.

Unrelated, The one picture I took today.  Lyla being one of the big kids, out playing with Hayes & Kamri. They were filling various containers with water and catching bugs. I believe at different times. I apologize to the bugs if done simultaneously.
