Caught Up

Hayes's friend got a Ninjao set for his birthday. Hayes wants a Ninjao set and couldn't handle waiting for two and a half more months to get it for his birthday. Before school he asked me to make a list of jobs for him to do to earn money. When he got home from school he was a man on a mission. I made him eat lunch but then he worked. He cleaned all the mirrors (all our closets have mirror doors so it's a lot of mirrors), washed all the doors, scrubbed the baseboards in his room, cleaned up the toys in the playroom, unloaded half the dishwasher, and fed Lyla. He earned $2.80. As we were reading scriptures tonight he was falling asleep in the chair holding his two one dollar bills. He was pretty proud of his hard work and I am too.

Kamri worked some too and earned 45 cents. I had promised Kamri we would go to target today so she could spend her birthday money. She had her mind set on lip gloss since I made her throw one of them away that had been shared with way too many friends but they didn't have the kind she wanted. She fell in love with some fairy wings in the dollar section though. When we got home, she put on her Rapunzel dress,  her fairy wings and took out her pigtails (Fairies don't have pigtails, I learn something new everyday!). She grabbed her Koala and asked me to take a picture. I was happy to oblige.

I realize now it seems cruel that Kamri got to go buy something with money she didn't earn while Hayes worked but he understood that it was money from grandma and he'd get some for his birthday too.

I also finished blogging about Bracken and my vacation so if you are interested, here are the links. Ephesus was our favorite stop on our cruise.
