Gotta start somewhere

I decided I was going to ride my bike to Hayes' school today and pull Hayes & Kamri in the bike trailer.  I'm taking advantage of Bracken being home so I can have him watch Lyla.  We were all "ready" by 8 but inevitably on the way out the door, a shoe was lost, the bike trailer tire was low  and the garage door was on the fritz.  By time time I closed the garage door and headed towards the school it was 8:42 and Hayes school starts at 8:55.

Nothing like a time constraint to make yourself work harder.

We made it up to the gate and Hayes running "walking quickly" (Mom, we aren't allowed to run on the blacktop at school!!") to class by 8:54.  He beat the bell.  Good thing the school is downhill from us.

The ride uphill home felt slow but Kamri kept me entertained singing Jingle Bells the whole way home. No snow, no sleigh and definitely no dashing but we made it home.  I had turned on the route tracker on my phone for the way home. Turns out I could have WALKED home faster then I rode.

I felt a little pathetic at that but I guess training has to start somewhere!!

Whew! Close call!

Biking with a trailer, up hill, is killer!
