Kamri & Hayes love doing little projects. Cutting, gluing, coloring, painting, pieces of paper into whatever their imaginations can come up with. I got sick of cleaning up after them so I decided the solution was for each of them to have a drawer in the dresser in our entryway to hold their "projects."
These drawers have turned into a place for them to stash anything and everything when I tell them to clean up. Today they could not find a pair of scissors to do a project so I told them it was time to clean out the drawers, suspecting them to be in Kamri's since they have been there before.
I gave them each two boxes, one for stuff to keep and one to throw away. I think they each threw away about three things. (I was more heartless after they went to sleep.) It was funny watching them inspect each little scribbled on paper carefully to determine if it made the cut. Hayes drawer was mostly papers but Kamri's was a bit more interesting. We found three pairs of scissors in her drawer, along with about a ream of paper in various sizes, shapes & colors, bracken's old watch, two coloring books, a bunch of stickers, paper dolls, a bottle of nail polish, $1.34 in change, my stapler, five little notebooks, a make up brush of mine, random pens & pencils, etc. but when I started to smell mold I realized Kamri's had reached hoarder proportions. There were about five Ziploc bags in there holding pieces of paper & toys. (She's also a bag lady...) One of the bags though was full of some unidentifiable objects covered in mold. Our best guess was peas but we're really not sure what she decided belonged in her drawer.
We'll be brushing up on our inspections of their drawers but in the meantime does anyone know a good way to get mold smell out? I sprayed it with watered-down bleach and am letting it air out....hopefully it will be better in the morning?
and a picture...just because I haven't put one up for awhile. I need to get my camera out more. This is from October.

Kamri is preparing for any possible emergency I'm sure!
I'm guessing that in 15 years her purse will hold a similar list! I love little girls and their bags (or drawers in Kamri's case!)
No idea on the mold smell...I'd take it to google?!?
Vinegar Maybe?? I use that for EVERYTHING. Kids are the best my Sister tried saving a cinnamon Roll for a few months is her closet looked so gross when we found it.
Our solution for my hoarder kids is to take a picture of them with their most special projects, and throw everything away after they've been displayed or oohed and aahed over for a time. It's a compromise, but I think it's working.
