When I woke up I was trying for the life of me to remember what day it was. After forcing my hazy brain to concentrate I determined it was Sunday, didn't look at the time, and fell back to sleep. I must have forgotten that church starts at 9 now instead of 12:30 or maybe I'm just lazy and like my sleep. Bracken ended up waking me up a little later telling me I better start getting ready if we are going to be on time to church. yada yada yada boring part about getting ready....and then Bracken took the two older kids to church with him because he was picking up one of the boys he teaches on the way. I only had to get Lyla dressed, and had 15 minutes before I needed to leave for church. Lyla and I were late.
In my rush I realized that we had never read the scriptures or answered the question for the primary scripture challenge (the kids in primary are assigned a set of scriptures to read throughout the week, they answer a question on a slip of paper, turn it in and if their name gets drawn they pick something out of the treasure chest.)
FACT: This was Kamri's first chance to be able to do the scripture challenge.
FACT: She had reminded me MULTIPLE times throughout the week that we needed to do it.
FACT: She was really really excited to turn it in.
FACT or MYTH: During sacrament meeting I read the scriptures, wrote the answer to the question in and then whispered to both Kamri & Hayes a brief synopsis of the story & the answer. So nope they didn't hear the story from me reading the scriptures to them, but let the sin be on the head of the parent because there was no way I was going to let Kamri down especially considering the facts above.
To top off my awesome parenting-ness...Hayes asked to go get a drink during sacrament meeting and I told him no because I wanted him to be reverent. (I wasn't being a good example sitting there writing like a mad women and whispering to them) He proceeded to give me the angry eyes, whine and tell me how THIRSTY he was. I would have said yes if he'd asked nicely twice but since he threw a fit I had to keep saying no. My five year old was acting like he was a two year old without a nap all of sacrament meeting and five minutes before it was over he bolted to go get a drink. Next time I'll just say yes the first time...he's proven to me that it would be more reverent that way.
During primary I was finishing a project I was going to do at home and forgot. So I sat in the hall finishing it instead of being in with the kids.
I did not get a single thing out of church today. It wasn't the fault of the people bearing their testimonies or the sharing time teacher, or the kids..it was mine for being busy with other things rather than being prepared to listen. Lesson learned, hopefully next week I will be better.

FLT: "I think you need a little more arm-flailing" -Me (Bracken told Hayes sarcastically that if he threw a bigger fit then we might be able to change the rule for eating dinner, Hayes gave it a try and I offered some tips.)

Quote for Sunday
An observer of George Albert Smith said: "His religion is not doctrine in cold storage. It is not theory. It means more to him than a beautiful plan to be admired. It is more than a philosophy of life. To one of his practical turn of mind, religion is the spirit in which a man lives, in which he does things, if it be only to say a kind word or give a cup of cold water. His religion must find expression in deeds. It must carry over into the details of daily life." (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,
Teachings of the Presidents of the Church: George Albert Smith 2 (2011) (quoting Bryant S. Hinckley) (emphasis added).
